Ilosone

Ilosone medicine contains the antibiotic agent called Erythromycin that summons its antimicrobial action by forcing the 50S ribosomal subdivision of receptive bacteria and inhibiting protein synthesis.

Possessing bacteriostatic features Erythromycin may however be bactericidal if use in high concentrations as single doses.

The approved clinical uses of Ilosone include the treatment of different bacterial diseases: upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and skin tissue infections, acne, syphilis, diphtheria, pertussis, chlamydial infections, sexually transmitted diseases. The use of Inosone is approved in children, adolescents and adult patients.

Erythromycin is effective in eliminating the organism from the susceptible microorganisms and gives the beneficial results in the first days of the treatment.

Ilosone is for oral administration. In children the dose is calculated with regard to the body weight. Infants and children from 5-10 kg should be given 10mg/kg every 6 hours. Children from 10-25 kg may receive 125 mg of the medicine every 6 hours. Adults and children whose body weight is over 25 kg can take 250 mg each 6 hours or alternatively 500 mg every 12 hours.

The doses of Ilosone may be increased if necessary (in case of severe infections). Besides, the individual dose of this medicine may also be based on the conditions being treated and their severity.

Prior to the treatment with Ilosone it is required to identify the bacteriologic culture causing the disease. The estimation of the general health of a patient is also needed.

The therapy with Ilosone should not be discontinued when the first good results are obtained. The discontinuation may cause further development of the disease, growth of resistant to antibiotics bacteria and occurrence of secondary infections.

The use of Ilosone for prophylaxis and prevention of any condition is not recommended. Only a doctor can make a decision to use this medicine for these purposes.
