Uses This medication is a cephalosporin-type antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections (e.g., skin and respiratory tract infections). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness. How to use Ceclor CD Tablet, Extended Release 12 Hr Take this medication by mouth with a meal, usually every 12 hours, or as directed by your doctor. Swallow this medication and then drink a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters). Do not crush or chew this medication. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects. Also, do not split the tablets unless they have a score line and your doctor or pharmacist tells you to do so.
